Re-evaluations

Applicants may request a re-evaluation after an evaluation report has been issued.

There are 5 different types of re-evaluations that apply to the PT or PTA applicant.

Applicants are encouraged to read carefully each of these types of re-evaluations to be sure they order the correct service online.

  1. Re-evaluation based upon additional information       Apply Now

If it is determined that the applicant did not submit all of the necessary information prior to the educational credential review beginning, or that the information originally sent was not complete or incorrect, the applicant can arrange to have additional information sent to FCCPT by the appropriate issuing institution and the applicant can apply for a re-evaluation.

Additional information may consist of curriculum/course descriptions for courses on transcripts, evidence of missing courses from transcripts, additional coursework taken (whether originally or in response to deficiencies noted in the initial review), clinical education certificates, licensure documents, etc. All additional documentation must come directly from the issuing institution and not from the applicant.

After applying online for the re-evaluation, the applicant must write a detailed letter outlining what information was lacking during the initial review, and what additional documentation will be included in the re-evaluation. This letter is the official re-evaluation statement and must include the applicant’s full name, file number, and signature. The letter can be mailed or faxed to FCCPT at 703-684-8715. The re-evaluation will not begin until full payment has been received.

Letters from schools in support of reevaluations are not accepted, there must be official documentation in the course descriptions, content outlines or course objectives. These additional detailed descriptions must also be accompanied by a letter of explanation of why this information was not sent initially. These letters are usually situations where an applicant has someone at the school send a letter stating that missing content was present in a certain course, or there was an error on a transcript, or some missing coursework on a transcript etc. The4 FCCPT does not accept a letter as evidence of missing content or transcript errors. We only accept the same documents that we would for the original review – transcripts and syllabi. We would request that a letter from the school accompany any new transcripts and syllabi explaining any discrepancies between the new documents and the originals.

  2. Re-evaluation based upon additional coursework       Apply Now

If an applicant’s education is found to be “not equivalent” to the first professional physical therapy degree in the U.S., the evaluation report sent to the applicant will outline what coursework areas were deficient.

Additional general education (for a PT Re-Eval) or foundational courses (for a PTA Re-Eval) may be taken at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or abroad to make up for missing coursework.

College Level Examination Program ©(CLEP) scores can also be submitted. See www.collegeboard.com for information on CLEP.

Please note: If an applicant is submitting CLEP scores, then the applicant should check with the jurisdiction in which he/she is seeking licensure to verify if they will accept CLEP scores as part of an evaluation and/or how many CLEP credits will be accepted.

Additional professional education courses may also be taken to satisfy coursework missing on the initial review. This professional education must be a component of a program leading to a recognized degree in physical therapy in the U.S. or abroad.

Once the applicant has completed the necessary coursework found to be lacking in the initial evaluation report, the applicant can apply for a re-evaluation. Additional information proving that the applicant has taken this coursework must be forwarded to FCCPT by the appropriate academic institution. An official school transcript is needed for all general education coursework. An official school transcript and official syllabus is required for all professional education coursework in physical therapy. All additional documentation must come directly from the academic institution and not from the applicant.

After applying online for the re-evaluation, the applicant must write a detailed letter outlining what additional coursework was taken and what additional documents will be forwarded to FCCPT by the appropriate academic institution. This letter is the official re-evaluation statement and must include the applicant’s full name, file number, and signature. The letter can be mailed or faxed to FCCPT at 703-684-8715.

The cost for this re-evaluation is $350. The re-evaluation will not begin until full payment has been received.

  3. Re-evaluation based upon a possible mistake       Apply Now

If an applicant believes that an error was made in the educational credentials evaluation report, then the applicant may wish to apply for a re-evaluation online.

The applicant must write a detailed letter outlining where the mistake might have been made in the review. This letter is the official re-evaluation statement and must include the applicant’s full name, file number, and signature. The letter can be mailed or faxed to FCCPT at 703-684-8715.

The cost for this re-evaluation is $350. The re-evaluation will not begin until full payment has been received. If an error is found in the re-evaluation review, and it is the fault of FCCPT, then the payment will be refunded in full to the applicant.

  4. Re-evaluation based upon a conversion to a state-specific evaluation tool       Apply Now

If an applicant desires a report of the educational credential evaluation to be sent to a state that requires a conversion to a state-specific evaluation tool (California) after the initial evaluation report has been finished, then a re-evaluation is required.

The applicant is not required to write or fax to FCCPT any detailed letter for this type of re-evaluation. However, the applicant must apply for this re-evaluation through this online file.

The cost for this re-evaluation is $350. The re-evaluation will not begin until full payment has been received.

  5. Re-evaluation based upon the direction given in the PLAN program       Apply Now

Applicants who apply and pay for the FULL PLAN program are given a worksheet of possible additional coursework to take and where to take these courses. Once this plan is completed by the applicant, instructions will be given by the PLAN counselor to apply for the PLAN Re-evaluation. This application is made online through an applicant’s existing file.

The cost of this re-evaluation is included in the cost of the FULL PLAN service.
